Asteroid Midas - 1981

astrollusion:

The story of Midas - to put it short and sweet, is that of a King who was overcome by greed and was granted his wish by Dionysos. The wish was that Midas could turn everything he touched into gold. This was all fine and dandy until Midas realised he could not eat and was condemned to starve because of his greed when his daughter tried to help him, he touched her and she too turned to gold.

The moral is that greed can take away the things in life that are most valuable to us. We often aren’t aware of what we value until we can’t have it.

Midas in Aries/1st House: Wishes for more confidence and self-assurance, sacrificing their ability to work with others as a result of selfishness.

Midas in Taurus/2nd House: Wishes for more luxury and material gain, sacrificing their valued emotional bonds with others as a result of greed.

Midas in Gemini/3rd House: Wishes for more friends and communication, sacrificing their genuinity and truth as a result of exaggeration (to attract the interest of others).

Midas in Cancer/4th House: Wishes for a thriving home life, to have family all to themselves, sacrificing the ambition of their lineage (family) as a result of holding them too close.

Midas in Leo/5th House: Wishes for fun, extravagance and attention, sacrificing a sense of belonging and equality as a result of using vanity as a shield.

Midas in Virgo/6th House: Wishes for perfection in all they do, sacrificing divine chaos as a result of micromanaging everything in their lives.

Midas in Libra/7th House: Wishes for unconditional, irretrievable love, sacrificing independence as a result of trying to find themselves in someone else.

Midas in Scorpio/8th House: Wishes for power through spirituality and emotion, sacrificing security as a result of focusing the metaphysical world rather than the physical.

Midas in Sagittarius/9th House: Wishes for knowledge and wisdom, sacrificing detail and humility as a result of truth-seeking.

Midas in Capricorn/10th House: Wishes for status, sacrificing their presence at home or in the family as a result of establishing their presence in the world.

Midas in Aquarius/11th House: Wishes for freedom, sacrificing interpersonal connections as a result of detaching themselves from anything permanent.

Midas in Pisces/12th House: Wishes for divine transcendence, sacrificing day to day responsibilities as a result of withdrawing into their spirituality.

plain-flavoured-english:

Your purpose in life is not to love yourself but to love being yourself.

If you goal is to love yourself, then your focus is directed inward toward yourself, and you end up constantly watching yourself from the outside, disconnected, trying to summon the “correct” feelings towards yourself or fashion yourself into something you can approve of.

If your goal is to love being yourself, then your focus is directed outward towards life, on living and making decisions based on what brings you pleasure and fulfillment.

Be the subject, not the object. It doesn’t matter what you think of yourself. You are experiencing life. Life is not experiencing you.
